This series contains the scrapbook compiled by Oren Vittelius Henderson during his career at the University of New Hampshire. All of the items relate to the activities of the college and are not from Henderson's personal life. Included are items such as: commencement programs, sports programs, freshmen week programs, war training statistics, class day programs, building dedications and various UNH publications.

The New Hampshire College of Agriculture and the Mechanic Arts founded in Hanover, NH in 1866, moved to Durham, NH in 1893 and became the University of New Hampshire in 1923. Oren Vittelius Henderson worked for the University of New Hampshire from 1915 to 1939. He started as the Business Secretary for the college and was also the Purchasing Agent for the Experiment Station. In 1920 he became the Executive Secretary and the Registrar. He held the position of Registrar until 1939. He died in 1951....

In 1861, the United States federal government approved the Morrill Act which set aside land in each state for the founding of public higher education. In 1862, the New Hampshire state legislature accepted the grant of 80,000 acres of public lands on which to set up a university. The New Hampshire College of Agriculture and the Mechanic Arts was established as a Land-Grant College in 1866 in Hanover, NH. The school moved to Durham, NH in 1893 and changed its name to the University of New Hampshire in 1923.
